Panic Attacks
Panic attacks occur when someone feels a sense of threat and the brain puts the body into fight or flight mode. The heart rate increases, creating an overwhelming sense of anxiety, fear and panic.
This mechanism was designed to protect us from predators in the wild, however, in modern society, the brain now perceives threat to be more conceptual, some examples could be but are not limited to, our financial situation, our educational grades, our relationships or the fear of having a panic attack.

Can You Die From A Panic Attack?
Panic attacks can be very frightening and people can feel like they can’t breathe and they are going to die.
It’s important to note, that as scary as they can be, no-one has died directly from having a panic attack, and that it is very possible to manage them to the point that they cease to happen.

Do You See Couples?
Unfortunately, I’m not currently seeing couples. This may change in the near future.
Can You See Me and My Partner Separately?
Unfortunately, it would be a conflict of interest to see both partners in a relationship. I would recommend that if the other partner also wants therapy, that they find another therapist.

Trauma
First discovered in veterans returning from WW1, the understanding of trauma has developed past the concept of shell shock and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) only affecting soldiers in combat.
Trauma can occur to anyone who’s life is threatened, or put at risk of serious harm, or if someone they know is put at risk of serious harm.
It could happen in one single event or over a sustained period of time.
